Received on 26 September 2007 after the completion of a round of the Munros earlier this summer:
Thanks for all your guiding, help and advice.  Without it I would not have completed by now.

Cheers

K Waddell
Renfrewshire

The above certificate of appreciation was received after an ascent of Laila Kjellstrom's  final Munro, Ben Vorlich on 1 July 2007.   It sates:

This certificate is awarded to Lindsay Boyd of Caledonia Hilltreks in recognition of excellent guiding with skilful navigation and professional attention to safety up and down one hundred and two Munros with Laila Kjellstrom.   From 18 January 2003 (Meall Greigh) to 1 July 2007 (Ben Vorlich, Loch Lomond).

Received after a day trip to Mullardoch in June 2007 to complete four of my client's last five Munros:

I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated your guiding last Saturday. I know that I would never have been capable of navigating my way along the ridge in such poor conditions and I'm so glad that we were successful in completing those Munros. I have very much enjoyed walking with you and I hope that sometime in the future I might be able to do so again (perhaps to bag some Corbetts!)  So, thanks once again for a memorable, if exhausting, day.

Best Wishes.

Received after a day trip to Liathach in June 2007:

Thank you for a brilliant day out. You were excellent company and I look forward to walking with you again.

James R M Scott
Sheffield

Thanks for the photos, they are amazing! James had such a wonderful time. He then went on and had a week walking with a friend and says he is going up to Scotland each year - we went every year as children and he just loves it. Once again thank you for helping make a 50th birthday such a special time and also the start of happy times for my brother.

Liz Scott.

Received after a trip to the Far North (see walk report) in March 2007:

I am still thinking about the Suilven and waterfall days, they were magical - the surrounding areas and conditions adding to the experience.

Thanks again for 2 memorable days in the Far North, I hope to get back to Scotland at least once more this year - I'll be in touch!!

Received after three days hill walking in Kintail in October 2006:

Many thanks for your company this week, and more importantly your excellent guiding skills. I'll certainly be boasting for some time to come of my exploits on the Forcan ridge !

Received after a weekend Corbett Bagging in January 2006:
Hi Lindsay,

Many thanks for a fantastic weekend Corbett bagging. The weather was in our favour & this together with your expert guiding in some of Scotland's remotest areas, provided some of the most awesome views imaginable!

Beyond the numerous mountain tops of the west coast we saw Eigg, Rum & The Cuillin of Skye under an amber glow as the sun set.

The cost of your guiding is a small price to pay for such reward in return!!
Hope to see you again soon with similar weather please!

Best Wishes,
JS
Received after a day trip to the Broad Cairn in November 2005:
  • I've indeed enjoyed my walk with you despite the horrible weather on that particular day. No doubt, it'll be better if I could manage to take more pictures. It was still like a dream coming true for me as from Malaysia, I wouldn't have the chance at all to have a WINTER WALK, let alone walking in the snow!! Even though it's a long and tiring walk, I'm glad that I've made it all the way up with you as my guide. Can't wait to meet you up again in December, and by then I would have a pair of my own walking poles to help out.

Received after a day trip to the Ben Nevis via the Carn Mor Dearg arête in September 2005:
  • I would like to thank you for your input - Jonathan and I appreciated your care with us and guidance - although we had an unusually sunny day we were aware it is not always so, so we didn't have any worry about losing the way either before or during the climb and this was important - we picked up some tips on walking which we found useful.   As a doctor I appreciated your safety first attitude and your awareness of what can go wrong so we felt well looked after and did not worry about any changes of weather which can happen fast as we knew you would get us down safely and not allow us to go up if unsafe - this peace of mind is most important for Munro novices like us. I am happy to recommend you to friends who might head for the Scottish mountains and will certainly come back to you if we want to bag some more 4000 footers. Best wishes and thank you.

Received after a weekend Munro Bagging in the Mamores and Loch Quoich  in July 2005:
  •  Thinking back to my Scotland trip, I must say that the Ring of Steall tour was definitely the highlight of the journey.  Thank you for inviting me. I enjoyed your good company in the hostel and up here on the Munros.   Best to you, Sherpa!

  • Thanks again for a super weekend I really enjoyed the Ring of Steall you feel you are amongst some really big hills.    Sunday was super with such brilliant views of the Islands.   It is a magic area.

Received after a weekend Munro Bagging the Fisherfield Six in May 2005:
  •  "I must admit that I am a bit weary today, not sure what hurts the most my shoulders or my feet.   Despite all the moaning really enjoyed my weekend.   It was a challenge and one I was not sure I was up too but with your help and encouragement succeeded.  Thanks again for a super time and see you in Inverness in a couple of weeks time." Received after two days winter walking in the Cairngorms in May 2005:
  • "Thanks again for a great trip. I've been buzzing since I got back - although as you know the conditions were not expected by me, I certainly felt a sense of achievement.   Not forgetting your expert guiding of course!    No-one believed me back in sunny Bristol, so I pointed them to your write-up (link) - very good by the way.    It reads like a real adventure - which for a softie summer English walker it was!   Suffice to say that I can't wait to get back to Scotland."

Received after a couple of days in The Trossachs in February 2005:
  • "Thanks again for two outstanding days in the Highlands. As before, you provided at least one day of spectacular weather as a bonus to your mountain expertise and skill, and native Scottish good humour. I can't wait to come back next year!"

Received after a weekend in Knoydart in May 2004:
  • "Just to say thanks for everything Lindsay and for making my final Munro so special!   In fact unforgettable!!"
J. Shepherd,
Callander.

  • "Just a note to say thanks for a fantastic weekend - I must admit I'm still laughing at all the silly things that happened!!  The company was great and I think Janice was absolutely delighted - she couldn't have asked for better weather.  On the way home, we all met up at the Green Welly Shop at Tyndrum for a wee cup of tea - I think we were just prolonging the agony of ending such a wonderful weekend!  Maybe next year we can have a reunion - but I'm sure you will have to give some considerable thought to that!!!"

Received after a winter outing in February 2004:

  • "A wee message to say thanks for getting us up and down both hills (and along the ridge !!) safely at the weekend.   Enjoyed both days and not feeling too bad this morning. Will probably be saying something different tomorrow. Hope you are feeling OK after all your hard work making the path through the snow."

E.Wilson, Linlithgow

  • "What a super weekend's walking, thanks so much it was just brilliant.  I was absolutely shattered by the time I got home so cannot think how tired you must have been with all your trail blazing."

F.Lawrie, Linlithgow

  • "Thank you Lindsay for another truly memorable weekend....especially Slioch! Deep snow, blue skies, incredible views of the Torridon landscape & beyond,  not to mention expert guiding over exhilarating ridges, great company, definitely will go down as one of the most memorable. It must be good........I keep coming back for more!!'"

Received after a December day on Lochnagar in 2003:

"Thanks a million for your professionalism, friendliness, expertise and the wonderful hike you provided me in the Scottish Highlands. I couldn't have asked for more. It was a glorious opportunity. I am already working on coming back again and will expect an equally beautiful day. I can't wait to do it again! I'll be in touch."

Received after a visit to Fisherfield in May 2003:

  • "My successful completion of The Fisherfield Six in a day was largely due to the patience of my Caledonia Hilltreks guide - Lindsay. His thoughtful route planning maximised the magnificent views and minimised the pain of an undoubtedly long day! He may have criticised my carrying of excess baggage to our wilderness camp site but I think I can safely say I was the least 'whiffy' on our return to Corrie Hallie!!"

A Very Happy Munro Bagger

Received after day trip to Beinn a'Bhuird and Ben Avon in April 2003:

  • "Hi, thanks for a cracking day, really enjoyed my day and weather was brilliant too, a bit burnt around the edges though."

F.Lawrie, Linlithgow

Received in March 2003:

  • "Thank you again for some memorable walks with you in stormy weather as well as in sunshine!"

Laila Kjellstrom, Edinburgh

Received in September 2002 after the final Munro Stob Coire Easain:

  • "I would never have completed the Munros so quickly without your expert guiding. Thanks a million. You have helped me to achieve something I never thought I would. You just inspire confidence."

M. Hybszer, Linlithgow

Received after the Carn Mor Dearg Arête in August 2002:

  • "I would like to thank you very much for the guiding on the Carn Mor Dearg/Ben Nevis walk which I did with you in August. Although the conditions were not ideal, throughout the day you provided excellent advice and help and got us all there and back safely. Your patience with everyone was admirable and your great sense of humour got us through a very testing day. Thank you again."

Jan Crosthwaite, Brighton

Received after weekend at White House, Barrisdale in May 2002:

  • "Thanks for the weekend at Knoydart. The whole weekend was a great bonus. The accommodation was first class and the company excellent. Your leadership was excellent as usual and you looked after us all very well. We have no hesitation in recommending you to all our friends as a guide."

Dougie McInally, Falkirk
