History & Background

River Findhorn

Glen Strathfarrar

Loch Monar

Caledonia Hilltreks is operated throughout Scotland by me Lindsay Boyd.   I have been hill walking for over 25 years and  have climbed all the Munros three times. I am Munroist number 1801 in the list maintained by the Scottish Mountaineering Club.

I have also climbed all the Munro Tops, Corbetts and over one hundred Grahams. I have walked the West Highland Way and have been on several backpacking expeditions.  I am in the process of completing another round of Munros and more than half way through a second round of Corbetts.

My walking experience abroad includes Colorado, the Sikkim area of India which is part of the Himalayas, the Bernese Oberland and the Ticino areas of Switzerland and the Tatras in Poland.  In 2005 I climbed Mt Blanc.

I am a qualified mountain leader and have an extensive knowledge of the mountainous regions of Scotland. I specialise in taking clients Munro and Corbett Bagging and  have guided groups and individuals in most of these mountain ranges. I also do low level walks including Glen and Loch walks.

I started my business, Caledonia Hilltreks, in 2002 and offer guided trips  and walking holidays throughout Scotland.   I also do consultancy work  including devising route plans and offering navigation courses.

Since the inauguration of my business I have had the opportunity to guide the following clients to their final Munro or have assisted them in reaching their goal.

Jean Cowan Munroist 3260 September 2004
Janice Shepherd Munroist 3446 May 2004
Laila Kjellstrom Munroist 3843 July 2007
Kay Waddell Munroist 3873 July 2007
Tony Pitson Munroist 3889 August 2007
Frances Lawrie Munroist 3957 September 2007
Frances Rickus Munroist 3963 October 2007

I have also assisted client's fulfil other walking ambitions:

A lady from Cheshire had been visiting the Deeside area of Aberdeenshire for 42 years and had always had a hankering to climb Lochnagar so in June 2007 I guided her and her daughter to the summit.

In the same month of 2007 I guided a gentleman from South Yorkshire on Liathach in wonderful weather conditions.   He had waited 25 years for this occasion.

If you have a similar ambition or want to be guided on the Munros or Corbetts contact me and I will see if I can be of some assistance to you.
